Our group is made up of the local community, park users and residents and was originally set up in 2007. As well as working alongside local community and voluntary groups, we also work with other agencies such as the Health Improvement Team and Salford City Council to maintain and improve the parks Our aim is to make Monmouth Park and Ordsall park some of the best green spaces for everyone to enjoy in Salford.
We hold regular meetings and everyone including residents and park users are welcome to attend. For more details about our meetings see below.
Our meetings are normally held every three months, the date of the next meeting is advertised on this website and our social media sites. Other meetings will be held in between these when deemed neccessary for festivals and events, special projects and park improvments. These meetings are a chance for members and volunteers to be updated with the latest developments in the park, to discuss any new issues and to update / resolve any current ones. The meetings are also used to plan events and festivals being held in the park and to discuss any improvements planned or ongoing in the park. Any complaints or issues raised by the community and through our website are brought to the group's attention and we regularly have members from other agencies such as Salford City Council, Health Improvement Team etc who assist and take part in the group meetings and support us with our events and festivals.
Membership & Volunteering
New Members Wanted - Join Our Group.
If you have a keen interest in Monmouth Park and / or Ordsall Park or just want to join a group, make new friends and do some good, why not join the Friends Of Ordsall Parks Group. We are looking for new members to help with our group and continue the work we do with Monmouth Park and Ordsall Park.
What we ask from our members / volunteers:-
We normally requires members to attend our meetings which are held every couple of months. These meetings normally last for around 1 hour to 1.5 hours. We would like members to be involved in fund raising for events held in the parks for the community, such as Ordsall Festival which is normally held every year. We are also looking for volunteers to help with the maintenance of the community garden in Ordsall Park and we normally (weather permitting), hold these maintenance days every month to 6 weeks, spring to autumn.
What we give in return:-
An opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, to be part of a friendly small team and to be involved with the running of the park for the benefit of residents and the local community. To learn to work on projects and fund raising as part of a team and on your own, learning to priortise your volunteer time and to work to project timescales and deadlines. You can also learn how we comply with regulations that we have to abide by and how to complete documents which are required for such things as our festivals and event days.
